Last Friday, things could have been worse for Ankeny Centennial, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 79-64 loss to Dowling Catholic.
Meanwhile, Liberty had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 74-62 victory over Clear Creek-Amana.
Liberty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Hughes, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shea Sanders, who scored 6 points along with 3 blocks.
Ankeny Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
