On Saturday, Sagemont faced the Westminster Academy Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sagemont took a serious blow against Westminster Academy, falling 80-49. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sagemont has scored all season.
Sagemont's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kevin Thomas, who scored 14 points, and Patrick Liburd who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Devontae Jean, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Police, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Alexander Lloyd was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Sagemont's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Westminster Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sagemont will take on Hialeah Educational Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hialeah Educational Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Westminster Academy, they will be playing at home against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. American Heritage is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
