North Duplin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Union Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, North Duplin beat Lakewood 48-37.
North Duplin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reece Outlaw out in front who scored 14 points. Addy Higginbotham was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Union can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 44-24 margin over Rosewood. Given Union's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Rosewood is ranked 512th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ariyona Spearman led the charge by scoring 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Spearman has scored at least a third of Union's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zadariyah Faison, who scored 13 points.
North Duplin's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Everything went North Duplin's way against Union in their previous matchup back in January as North Duplin made off with a 59-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Duplin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
