The Ford Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Wills Point Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ford will be strutting in after a win while Wills Point will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Ford strolled past Lincoln with points to spare, taking the game 36-21.
Ford's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zalen Morales, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and Jeremiah Coleman, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Payton Wallen also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Wills Point were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-7 loss at the hands of Sunnyvale. While losing is never fun, Wills Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while Sunnyvale is ranked 300th).
Ford's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Wills Point, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Ford has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 286.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wills Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 228 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Ford against Wills Point in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 43-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ford since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
