Basketball Recap: Mogollon's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Mogollon entered their match against Joseph City on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mogollon Mustangs took a 40-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Joseph City Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-37 back in December of 2024.

Loss or not, Mogollon got some senior leadership from Haidyn Franco and Marissa Parry. Franco posted 14 points, while Parry had nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Franco has posted since back in November of 2024.

Audrey Neill continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Joseph City, going 7 for 9 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Neill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. Gabrielle Jesmer was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Mogollon's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-6. As for Joseph City, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Mogollon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-29 victory against Williams on the 27th. As for Joseph City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 86-6 win against BASIS Flagstaff on the 23rd.
