The Napoleon Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Napoleon has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Perrysburg will arrive with three straight wins.
Napoleon suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Ross 62-35. While losing is never fun, Napoleon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Ross is ranked 74th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Makayla Kruse, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Lylah Huddle, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Perrysburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Whitmer on Thursday, taking the game 40-31.
Napoleon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Perrysburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Napoleon came up short against Perrysburg when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 48-37. Can Napoleon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
