The Wendover Wildcats put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over Bryce Valley. Given Wendover's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Bryce Valley is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Kadence Murphy, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lizbeth Landeros, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Wendover pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bryce Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wendover won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Panguitch at 12:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Panguitch is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.1 points per game. Bryce Valley and El Capitan/Centennial Academy will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. El Capitan/Centennial Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
