There's no place like home for the Spring Lake Park Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Irondale 82-51 at home. That looming 82-51 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Spring Lake Park yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why Irondale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Dedominces. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Dedominces scored a full 39.2% of Irondale's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Granlund, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Irondale were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Spring Lake Park's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Irondale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Lake Park will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against St. Michael-Albertville at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. Irondale will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hastings at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hastings' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
