Sam Guy was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Martin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Coffee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Junitho Benson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Benson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jy'darius Odums was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Coffee, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.
Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Coffee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
