It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sussex Central Golden Knights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Appoquinimink. For Sussex Central, this counts as revenge for the 31-30 loss Appoquinimink walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October.
Sussex Central found their leader in underclassman William Harmon, who rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Malik Bell and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Sussex Central's win.
Sussex Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Appoquinimink, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Sussex Central will face off against Cape Henlopen at TBD on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Cape Henlopen is ranked sixth, while Sussex Central is ranked ninth). Appoquinimink does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
