Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the North Side Gators, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Calhoun City on Friday, falling 36-6. North Side was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.
Leading Calhoun City to victory were Jamajah Mayes and Xavian Pittman. Mayes rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, while Pittman gained 172 total yards and three touchdowns. Mayes has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played.
Another reason for the win was Calhoun City's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. North Side's QB won't forget Javonte Harvey anytime soon given Harvey sacked him three times.
North Side's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Calhoun City, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
North Side does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calhoun City will face off against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
