Hugoton is 0-10 against Scott since May of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will host the Beavers at 4:00 p.m. Hugoton has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Hugoton took on Cimarron on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Bluejays, falling 13-3.
Emery Anderson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Salmans, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scott). They put the hurt on Ness City with a sharp 23-1 victory on Thursday. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Riley Suppes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Suppes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peyton Gentry was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Crissa Irvin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Scott's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Hugoton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hugoton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scott struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hugoton might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Scott in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
