Wabasha-Kellogg has gone a perfect 9-0 against Mabel-Canton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Wabasha-Kellogg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Wabasha-Kellogg took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Dover-Eyota, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons skirted past the Eagles 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 13, 2024.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Mabel-Canton had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Spring Grove on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Tylar Wenthold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kira Snyder was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last three matchups. Ella Halverson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Mabel-Canton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 12-8.
Everything went Wabasha-Kellogg's way against Mabel-Canton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Wabasha-Kellogg made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
