Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Belton Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Webb City on Friday, falling 71-20. Belton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 64-7.
Gabe Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for Webb City as he rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 56 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Andrew Young got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Belton's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Webb City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Belton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Webb City will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Carthage. Carthage will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
