Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Dayton Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 42-30 to the Challengers on Saturday. Dayton's defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Dayton still got an impressive performance from Boston Hodges, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Hodges was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Zach Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashton Moody, who rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 148 yards and a touchdown. Luke Wilson and his 115 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cascade Christian's victory.
Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Cascade Christian, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.
Dayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cascade Christian will head out on the road to face off against Banks on Saturday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Banks: 7.8, Cascade Christian: 8.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
