Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rayne). Everything went their way against the David Thibodaux Bulldogs on Friday as Rayne made off with a 20-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Cooper Letchworth was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jude-Mikal Dupont, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Letchworth wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Rayne is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. David Thibodaux's loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Looking ahead, Rayne and Jennings will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rayne is facing Jennings at the right time seeing as Jennings is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for David Thibodaux, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Houma Christian at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
