After two games on the road, Flour Bluff is heading back home. They will take on The Gregory-Portland Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Flour Bluff never let their opponents score. They really took it to Porter for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-0 victory on the road. Given Flour Bluff's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 479th, while Porter is ranked 1149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flour Bluff relied on the efforts of Cameran Dickson, who picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Jayden Paluseo, who threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Paluseo hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games.
Meanwhile, Gregory-Portland entered their tilt with Valley View with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Gregory-Portland simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Valley View 58-0 at home.
Among those leading the charge was Reed Dooms, who threw for 153 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. Brandon Coates got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Flour Bluff's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.8 points per game. As for Gregory-Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Flour Bluff skirted past Gregory-Portland 36-34 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Does Flour Bluff have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gregory-Portland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
