The Elizabeth Minutemen entered their tilt with the Colonia Patriots with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Elizabeth came out on top in a nail-biter against Colonia on Sunday and snuck past 59-56. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Colonia is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
London Carson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Cameron Mcrae was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Elizabeth has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Colonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elizabeth will take on Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colonia, they will head out on the road to take on St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
