Pershing County is 1-9 against Incline since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pershing County Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Incline Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Last Tuesday, Pershing County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Sierra Lutheran, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win.
Pershing County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travis Donaldson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Donaldson has scored all season. Izayuh Mcglothin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Incline gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-33 win over Sierra Lutheran at home. With Incline ahead 42-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for Tommy Williams, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Incline's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Gitchell, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Pershing County's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Incline, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pershing County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Incline, though, as they've been averaging only 35.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pershing County was taken down by Incline 61-34 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds.
