After a string of ten wins, the Freeland Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frankenmuth. Freeland has struggled against Frankenmuth recently, as their game on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Mia McLaughlin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Frankenmuth. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McLaughlin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Clare Conzelmann, who scored 13 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Freeland's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2. As for Frankenmuth, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Freeland will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against New Lothrop at 7:00 p.m. New Lothrop will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Freeland is ranked 18th). As for Frankenmuth, they will head out on the road to square off against Alma at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Alma will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
