The American Patriots were the 46-28 winner over the Mourning Sharks when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. American took a 45-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mourning on Friday.
American lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lajahnique Olive, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Allison Pena, who scored eight points along with seven blocks.
American's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Mourning, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
American will head out on the road to face off against Miami Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mourning, they will be playing at home against Ferguson at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
