The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs will head out to take on the Mooresville Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Community is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Franklin Community had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Southport on Saturday. The Grizzly Cubs put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Grizzly Cubs not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 11-1).
The team relied heavily on Nash Netter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carsten Bland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Franklin Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mooresville). They walked away with a 12-7 win over Terre Haute South Vigo on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won five in a row.
Archer Query was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody McGaha, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Franklin Community's record is now 9-4. As for Mooresville, their record now sits at 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Franklin Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mooresville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Franklin Community might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Mooresville in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Grizzly Cubs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
