Valiant Cross Academy enjoyed a cozy 67-48 win over Eastwood Christian on Monday. Given Valiant Cross Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Eastwood Christian is ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valiant Cross Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Deondrae Williams out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Moore, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Valiant Cross Academy pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Eastwood Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Valiant Cross Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lee-Scott Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Eastwood Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Success Unlimited Academy at 6:00 p.m.
