Umatilla is 9-1 against Leesburg since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Umatilla Bulldogs will host the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Umatilla has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Leesburg will arrive with four straight wins.
On Tuesday, Umatilla didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Dora and fell 5-4.

Kiersten Hunsicker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, everything went Leesburg's way against Cedar Key two weeks ago as Leesburg made off with a 17-1 victory. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 15 runs or more this season.
Rachel Chiles was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Custer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Hunter, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Leesburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Leesburg pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Umatilla, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both Umatilla and Leesburg just can't seem to miss. Umatilla has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Leesburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Umatilla's way against Leesburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Umatilla made off with a 15-0 victory. Does Umatilla have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leesburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
