Lapwai is 1-9 against Kendrick since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Lapwai has given up an average of 15.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lapwai is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 22nd straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-5 to Potlatch, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Robert Parrish was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jereese McCormack, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kendrick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. Everything went their way against Grangeville as they made off with a 12-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Morgan Boyer, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jerry Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Kendrick's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Lapwai, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lapwai has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Kendrick struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lapwai suffered a grim 18-5 defeat to Kendrick when the teams last played on Friday. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
