Gilbert Christian came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 63-51 on Tuesday. Given Gilbert Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Chargers are ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gilbert Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lopemi. Omole, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Omole is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games he's played. Jace Olson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Nicholas Wright and Talan Speir certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Wright dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Speir scored 16 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Wright scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Mott, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Gilbert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Benjamin Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Gilbert Christian will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
