Two dominant backs in Jaden Lawrence and Albert Medina are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Legend Titans will be playing at home against the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legend will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Legend faced Pine Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Legend came out on top against Pine Creek by a score of 28-16.
Lawrence continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 190 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Lawrence was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pine Creek to a paltry 211 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Legend's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Lucas Bettendorf and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit got themselves on the board against Chaparral on Friday, but Chaparral never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolverines 51-0 at home. Given Regis Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Chaparral is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Regis Jesuit can attribute much of their success to Peyton Lindell, who threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and Garrett Reece, who rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Legend to 6-2 and Regis Jesuit to 4-4.
Things could have been worse for Legend, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 26-11 loss to Regis Jesuit in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Legend have more luck at home instead of on the road?
