Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. Albans

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Albans had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They beat the University Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 70-48. Winning may never get old, but the Red Dragons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jaycee Elzy was her usual excellent self, going 12-for-21 en route to 27 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of St. Albans' points. Another player making a difference was Triniti Austin-Russell, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and six boards.

St. Albans was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only four assists.

University lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bri Fox, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 13 points and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Hannah Stemple was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

St. Albans' victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

St. Albans has already played their next match, an 83-49 loss against Spring Valley on the 14th. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
