The Covenant Day Lions''s homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Hickory Grove Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Covenant Day will be strutting in after a victory while Hickory Grove Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Covenant Day beat High Point Christian Academy 20-14.
Among those leading the charge was Jaelan Pile, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 18 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Pile was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Jakota Hase, who picked up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hickory Grove Christian took a serious blow against Asheville School (Independent) on Friday, falling 55-12. Hickory Grove Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.
Despite the loss, Hickory Grove Christian had strong showings from Anthony Hawkins, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown, and Gavin Thompson, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Covenant Day's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Hickory Grove Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Covenant Day took a serious blow against Hickory Grove Christian when the teams last played back in September, falling 42-7. Will Covenant Day have more luck at home instead of on the road?
