Annapolis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Dean, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Dean has snagged this season.
Old Mill never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Meade on Friday. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 20-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.
Alyna Winterling was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Old Mill let Ava Brake and Addison Wagner run wild. Brake got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, while Wagner got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Aeryn Horton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.
Old Mill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Old Mill's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Annapolis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Annapolis might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Old Mill when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
