The Snow Canyon Warriors came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Cedar by a score of 58-49. Given Snow Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Cedar is ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Owen Mackay, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Snow Canyon's points. Another player making a difference was Trey Kelsch, who scored 15 points.
Landon Kreitzer and Tate Stubbs certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Kreitzer scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Stubbs scored 11 points. Jonathan Jeter was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two steals.
Snow Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Cedar, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Snow Canyon will take on Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dixie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 games. As for Cedar, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar is facing Pine View at the right time seeing as Pine View is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
