The Reagan Rattlers waltzed into their game Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Madison 52-37. Given Reagan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Madison is ranked 571st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sahara Green was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 18 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Joana Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Madison's loss came despite strong showings from Nadia Bailey and Malia Wyche. Bailey scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Wyche scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Madison were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reagan only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Reagan's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Madison, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.
Reagan will be playing at home against Johnson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marshall at 8:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Marshall is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
