Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Barrington Fillies/Broncos, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Lincoln-Way East on the road and fell 49-6. Barrington's defeat signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Nick Peipert threw for 122 yards on 15 of 32 attempts. Matt Marusich was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards. On the ground, Dillon Fitzpatrick rushed for 102 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln-Way East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Tischer, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Stephon Gardner-gist also helped out with an impressive 116 receiving yards.
Barrington's loss dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Lincoln-Way East, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Barrington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lincoln-Way East will face off against Loyola Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Loyola Academy is ranked first, while Lincoln-Way East is ranked third).
