Dayton is 2-8 against Elko since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dust Devils will host the Indians at 3:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dayton comes in on eight and Elko on three.
While Dayton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Debbie Smith CTE Academy on Saturday. Those six runs were actually the fewest the Dust Devils have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Donnita Wass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Sofia Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Elko got the win against Truckee on Saturday by a conclusive 19-3. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Taylor Hunton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Hunton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Carnicle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Romero, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Elko always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Elko's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dayton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .551. However, it's not like Elko struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
