Mid-East recap Oct. 31, 2012
Silver Lake extended the longest winning streak in Mid-East this week by beating Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy, 53-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Eagles.
Silver Lake took down the Junior Ravens 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dailin Kruger threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 130 yards in the win.
Rossville's dynamic duo of Dalton Catron and Corbin Horak proved tough for St. Marys to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Catron threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns and Horak had 112 yards receiving. Tucker Horak helped Rossville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 88 yards.
Cole Brecheisen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs beat the Bears. The 5-foot-10 senior pulled down one interception.
Ethan Miller was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 33 carries, he ran for 177 yards as Wabaunsee topped St. Marys. Zach Haya also contributed to the rushing game with nine yards on the ground.
5-foot-8 quarterback Catron of Steve Buhler's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1394. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, the Chargers' Miller has rushed for 1467 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jeff Torkelson. The Silver Lake star has 28 catches for 436 yards.
Cj Hamilton's team led Mid-East in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy. Kruger in the win.
