Cedar Park Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Whidbey recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cedar Park Christian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Granite Falls with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Shelby Southard and Gianna Charlton made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Southard pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Charlton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Southard went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Charlton went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Evoleht Stuhr was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Alexis Rogers also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Cedar Park Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, South Whidbey made easy work of Chimacum on Saturday and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Lena Hegeness and Sophie Ziegler did most of the damage at the plate: Hegeness went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Ziegler scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Gretta Jones, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
South Whidbey pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Cedar Park Christian, their record now sits at 8-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cedar Park Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Whidbey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cedar Park Christian took their win against South Whidbey in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
