The Cherokee Trail Cougars lost to the Monarch Coyotes back in December of 2022, but the Cherokee Trail Cougars didn't allow the Monarch Coyotes the same satisfaction on Friday. Cherokee Trail put the hurt on Monarch with a sharp 66-41 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cherokee Trail.
Leading Cherokee Trail to victory were Nathan Baack and Braylen Thomas. Baack scored 15 points, while Thomas scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mitchell , who scored 5 points.
Monarch's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Laverty, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Carlson, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Cherokee Trail's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Monarch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Cherokee Trail will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Broomfield at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Monarch, they will square off against Highlands Ranch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
