New Smyrna Beach hasn't had much luck against Bishop Moore recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Barracudas will square off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
New Smyrna Beach is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Seabreeze get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Barracudas haven't had any issues with the Sandcrabs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

New Smyrna Beach let Jaclyn Betti and Alyssa Layton run wild. Betti went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Layton went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Layton has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Hausknecht, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Smyrna Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop Moore, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Pine Ridge with a sharp 19-2 victory on Monday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Riley Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ariana Lara, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Sabrina Griffin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
New Smyrna Beach's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Bishop Moore, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-15 record.
New Smyrna Beach might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Bishop Moore when the teams last played on April 10th. Can the Barracudas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
