Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crosspoint Christian). Crosspoint Christian hasn't had any issues with Maranatha Baptist Academy recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Reid Mahoney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Mahoney was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Crosspoint Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Gus Bradley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Weldy, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Crosspoint Christian's record is now 7-4. As for Aurora Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Aurora Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crosspoint Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
