On Friday, Fairfield and Rio Americano were almost perfectly matched up, but Fairfield suffered an agonizing 20-19 loss.
Although Fairfield took the loss, they still got scores from Josh Tucker and Tristen Smith.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Americano to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keilen Gilbert, who threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
Fairfield's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 6-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rio Americano, Vanden, and Rodriguez. As for Rio Americano, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Fairfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rio Americano is on the road again on Friday and play against Vista del Lago at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Vista del Lago is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
