The Fleming Wildcats were the 58-43 winner over the Prairie Mustangs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fleming took a 43-24 bruising from Prairie on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fleming has scored all season.
David Betley and Will Bornhoft certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Betley scored six points along with ten rebounds, while Bornhoft scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fleming struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fleming bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.5 points per game. As for Prairie, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fleming and Akron will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. As for Prairie, they will head out on the road to square off against Wiggins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Wiggins is ranked 203rd, while Prairie is ranked 192nd).
