If The Auburn Trojans were feeling good off their 33-13 takedown of the Pittsfield Saukees two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Auburn was beaten by Williamsville 51-22 on Friday. Auburn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.
When it comes to explaining why Auburn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Jones. Despite the final result, he threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Smith, who picked up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Braddock Cates continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Williamsville, rushing for 330 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Josh Cates was another key contributor, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Williamsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Williamsville will be playing at home against Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tolono Unity is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
