North Star and Notus are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The North Star Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Notus Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Star will be strutting in after a win while Notus will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, North Star beat Vision 47-40. The win was just what North Star needed coming off of a 64-38 defeat in their prior matchup.
Blake Hansen was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 24 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of North Star's points. Another player making a difference was Milt Pettit, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Notus suffered a tough 58-32 loss at the hands of Imbler on Thursday.
Despite the defeat, Notus got a solid performance out of Luis Vargas, who scored 10 points. The matchup was Vargas' third in a row with at least ten points.
The losses dropped North Star to 1-2 and Vision to 0-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: North Star have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Notus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.7 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. North Star skirted past Notus 51-49 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Star since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
