Hodgeman County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyson Younger led the charge by shooting 46% from the field on his way to 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Younger a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Hazen Rydquist, who went 7-for-15 en route to 18 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Dighton waltzed into their game on Monday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They claimed a resounding 62-16 win over the Thunderhawks. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-6.
Hodgeman County better keep an eye on Daniel Cramer. He was instrumental in Dighton's win, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 18 points and five steals. Cramer has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times he's played. George Von Leonrod was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
Dighton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.
Dighton's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points on average over those games. As for Hodgeman County, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hodgeman County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Dighton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hodgeman County strolled past Dighton when the teams last played back in March of 2015 by a score of 55-40. Does Hodgeman County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dighton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
