At the plate, Roane County got a massive performance out of C KINDER, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. KINDER is becoming a predictor of the Raiders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). C CUMPSTON also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Roane County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Teays Valley Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Poca proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Colton Dunbar, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Bowles, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Roane County's record now sits at 4-6. As for Poca, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Roane County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Poca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Roane County took their victory against Poca in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 17-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
