Softball Game Preview: Hillsdale Falcons vs. Rittman Indians

For the second straight game, Hillsdale will face off against Rittman. The Falcons will welcome the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillsdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

Hillsdale's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Rittman. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won six in a row.

Kennedy Fickes made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Fickes, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Kiki McFadden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hillsdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rittman only posted an OBP of .250.

Hillsdale pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Rittman, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Rittman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hillsdale has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Rittman, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Hillsdale's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
