There's no place like home for the Mater Academy Charter Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took their contest at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 68-38 victory over Downtown Doral. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post 18 more assists than your opponent, as Mater Academy Charter did.
Solomon Leinbock was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 16 points along with 8 steals and 7 assists. Another player making a difference was Ethan Davis, who scored 13 points along with 4 steals.
Downtown Doral's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juan Diego Castro, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Salas, who scored 9 points.
Mater Academy Charter now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Downtown Doral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Academy Charter will take on Hialeah-Miami Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Downtown Doral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mater Brickell Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
