The Caro Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Vassar 39-20. Given Caro's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Vassar is ranked 618th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexa Long led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Long is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Brooklyn Osborn was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Vassar struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Caro posted eight assists.
Caro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Vassar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
Caro will play host again and welcome Unionville-Sebewaing, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Unionville-Sebewaing has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Vassar's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cass City at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
