There's no place like home for the Blythewood Bengals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 70-61 victory over Nation Ford on Saturday. Given Blythewood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Nation Ford is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Taurus Lewis Jr was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Will Olden, who scored 15 points.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caden Giles, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Giles has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Burnham, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
Blythewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Nation Ford, they bumped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blythewood will face off against Clover at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 514 points over their last seven contests. As for Nation Ford, they will head out on the road to take on Rock Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rock Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
