The Providence-St. Mel Knights will play host again and welcome the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence-St. Mel comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Providence-St. Mel won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 64-13 defeat at the hands of Ida Crown Jewish Academy. Providence-St. Mel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.
Meanwhile, Cristo Rey Jesuit came up short against Kennedy on Saturday and fell 33-26. Cristo Rey Jesuit has not had much luck with Kennedy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Providence-St. Mel's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Providence-St. Mel was dealt a bruising 56-10 defeat at the hands of Cristo Rey Jesuit in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Providence-St. Mel was down 39-4.
